Workshop: Spatial Planning and Information Management : do our jobs still exist after machine learning takes over?
Within the field of engineering both Spatial Planning and Information Management became increasingly important elements for analyzing needs, engineering, building and operating assets throughout their lifetime. The last decade the topic of integrating the separate lifecycle phases progressed into practical applications : what used to be separated fields now becomes one workflow connected through live data feeds. The next step is automating the whole process to generate cities rather than designing them, using past spatial planning and information management experiences, and live citizen feedback as input for machine learning. We could finally have public spaces that are actually fully scaped to meet all our needs – a city that can automatically follow our ever changing pace of life, within all borders of regulation. Of course, we would lose all of our jobs as city planner and engineer, but after automating all of the above, what else is there for us to do?
